I’m sure i’m not the only one with not only way to much yarn, but lots of what i like to call ‘crap’ yarn. And in my efforts to get rid of it (yes, lots of them have gone to the cats!!) and my recent discovery of the big hook, i crocheted some fish.
(for pdf click here: Go Fish
It takes FOREVER to use up yarn one boring strand at a time, so i tripled up on it!!
This is the first fish, also shown in the previous post. I felt like he needed a friend, so i made these:
All of them are made with crappy, scratchy, yucky red heart. (but the new ‘soft’ red heart totally rocks!!)
Tasha had fun taking pics of the fish~ i had a fever all day yesterday so she was being my helper!
If you feel like making the green one, here is the pattern:
Big Green Fish
Materials:
big size P hook (the grey plastic one at wal mart)
size J or K hook
any leftover ‘crap’ yarn~ at least 2 colors (i used a combination of ww, chunky, sport, just whatever yarn you want to use)
Pattern:
Holding 3 or 4 strands of yarn together (whatever fits)
5 sc in a ring
rd1: 2sc in each sc around (10 sc)

rd10-19: sc in each sc around (30 sc)
(stuff fish now)
chain 1, sc across the fish through both sides
*now chain 23, dtr in 4th chain from hook
going down the length of the chain, do a variety of dtrs, trs, dcs, all the way down to the last possible spot to crochet in,
slip stitch in 4th or 5th sc over*, chain 23 again and repeat from * to * till the end of the fish.
Slip stitch, fasten off, weave in loose ends.
Eyes (make two)
using a size J or K hook and 2 strands held together
5 sc in a ring, sl st to join
rd1: chain 1, 2 sc in each sc around, sl st to join (10 sc)
rd2: (switch colors) chain 1, 2sc in first sc, sc in next sc around, sl st to join (15 sc)
Fasten off, weave in ends, sew to sides of the head.
Wanna make the blue/purple fish?

fasten off, leave a long end, weave it around/through the mouth and braid or whatever~ makes it look like it’s on a line.
Eyes~ same as above
Please note: for the blue/purple fish the stitch count is not exact~ and it doesn’t have to be!!
You know who else likes the fish? The cats!!!
The kitten is Balto (Steve Holt!) and the claws belong to Cry Baby.
And now for some more adorable cat/kitten pics!!
