Happy Day

YEAAAAAAAA!!!!!  The ac guy just came back and fixed the ac!!!!  Again!!!  Third time this month!!!!  He said that cause the dryer vent thing is right next to the outside unit, it kept sucking in the heat and lint from the dryer.  That’s why it kept shutting off on us.  Today it is because he had to readjust the pressure.  I swear i have never had an ‘appliance fixer’ come over so fast!  Each time we’ve called he’s been over super quick.  And you know who else is happy?

This little guy!  I think he’s also sensitive to the heat.  Or just blissfully unaware.

1202009566_f4a51e938f_m1.jpg

He does like Mickey Mouse though.

Owl Overlord!!! August 19, 2007

This little guy is actually a super warrior overlord.  That’s why he has an ‘O’ on his belly.  He was born that way.

warrior.jpg

He thinks this is his good side.  he’s totally serious about it.

war4.jpg

Materials:

size G hook

cotton yarn (i used peaches n cream)

felt

glue

eyes

Body:

6 sc in ring

rd1: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc)

rd2: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc around (18 sc)

rd3: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc around (24 sc)

rd9: dec sc, sc in next 2 sc around (18 sc)

rd10: dec sc, sc in next sc around (12 sc)

rd11: dec sc, sc in next 5, dec sc, sc in rest (10 sc)

rd13: 2 sc in each sc around (20 sc)

rd21: in Back Loop only,  dec sc, sc in next 2 sc around

rd22: dec sc, sc in next around

rd23: dec sc around

finish off, weave in ends.

Stuff body before closing. Take a small square of felt, fold diagonally, cut a circle on one side to get the beak shape. glue to head. then glue on eyes. cut out ‘wings’, feet, and ‘O’, and glue on. All done!!!!!

This pattern has so not been tested.  It’s pretty much a head and body in one. If it doesn’t look right when your’e making it, then make it look right.  You wanna end up with a narrow hourglass shape, with a teeny tiny bit of ‘junk in the trunk’.  Enjoy!!!!

Bedrest is boring. August 18, 2007

Stuff i’ve been making since being banished to the couch. Totally the most BORING week EVER!!!!  That and the house smells like litter box.

1162752807_b345a04d64_m.jpg

1162764613_17f262216b_m.jpg

This guy was easy to make, mainly cause all the yarn needles are upstairs and the stinky tube of glue was near me.

1162752847_363fbeea66_m.jpg I imagine this thing to make that Seinfeld noise that he chose over his girlfriend. you know, ‘hellllooooo’!!!!  Next to it are two little Bloo’s. But in pink and purple.

Well, that ‘s all i got for now.  Thank god internet doesn’t come with smell-o-vision!!  cause it smells bad in here. like cat poop.  gag.

And here are new kitty pictures!!!!!

I don’t give a hoot August 12, 2007

Since Sunday is officially prototype day, here is a new animal i made!!!  It’s an owl. And it’s orange.  Reminds me of the fall.  At any rate, i went with ‘very small’ for the size, going with the whole less is more theme. I don’t have a name for him yet, so any suggesstions are welcome!!!

owl7.jpg

owl6.jpg

owl8.jpg

The picture quality is not the best cause i only had crappy batteries and the camera kept shutting off on me.  I really like the basic shape of the owl, and i’ve drawn a whole series of animals the same way. So there are definitely more to come!!!  Anyway, here is the pattern:

Materials:

ww yarn (i used caron simply soft in orange, turquoise, brown and yellow. i believe it’s in the brites line)

size F hook

yarn needle

stuffing

Body:

6 sc in ring

rd1: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc)

rd2: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc around (18 sc)

rd3: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc around (24 sc)

rd4: This is also an increase round, 30 sc, but i put the increases in two batches instead of spaced evenly, so bear with me here! : *(2sc in first sc, sc in next)* 3 times, sc in next 8 sc, repeat * 3 times, sc in last 4 sc. (30 sc)

rd5-16: sc in each sc around (30 sc)

rd17: In Back Loops Only, sc in each sc around (30 sc)

rd18: this is a decrease round! It’s the decrease version of rd 4, so once again, bear with me here!:  *(dec 1 sc in first 2 sc, sc in next)* 3 times, sc in next 8 sc, repeat *to* 3 times, sc in last 4 sc (24 sc)

rd19: dec1sc over first 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc around (18 sc)

rd20: dec1sc over first 2 sc, sc in next sc around (12 sc)

rd21: dec1sc around (6 sc)

sew closed, finish off.

Eyes (make 2)

with brown, 6 sc in ring, sl st in first sc, ch 1

rd1: 2 sc in each sc around, sl st in first sc, ch 1.

rd2: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc around, sl st in first sc, ch 1.

rd3: (switch to blue) 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc around, sl st in first sc, finish off.

Beak:

with yellow, 5 sc in ring

rd1: sc in each sc around (5 sc)

rd2:  2 sc in each sc around (10 sc)

finish off.

Finishing:

Alright people, we all know to stuff the bird anytime before you close it up! Sew the eyes and the beak on whenever you want to, i did it before i stuffed this one, but you can do it after the body is all done. It’s up to you!! Weave in all ends and enjoy your new owl!!!

I think for the next bird i’m gonna try felt for the beak. not sure yet.

Go Madaleine!!!!! August 10, 2007

Every single night for the last 4 years i have had to yell at Madaleine because she just would not do her homework.  I have heard every single excuse ever.  Homework was just a huge, stressful battle with her.  Imagine my non-surprise when she came home from school today with a whole weeks worth of work that had not been done.  Great. So of course she went through the whole ‘it’s too hard’ and ‘it’s too much’ deal.

Then she took a nap.  And played with the kittens.  And then……..

homework2.jpg

SHE DID ALL HER HOMEWORK!!!!!!!  This is the first time ever that she has done every single bit of homework/makeup work in one night without anything ‘forgotten’ at school that still has to get done!!!!!!!  I am soooooooooo freakin proud of her!!!!!!!!!!

GO MADALEINE!!!!!!!!!!!
